Chest is what decides your size. Neck and back help confirm the fit, but go by chest first.
Watch: How We Measure a Whippet
Quick recap:
- Neck — around the base of the neck, close to the shoulders
- Chest — widest point, just behind the front legs
- Back — middle of the shoulder blades to the base of the tail
Before You Measure
We're a small, made-to-order brand, so an accurate measurement really helps us get your dog's fit right the first time.
- Measure your dog directly, not a harness or an old jumper — even a good fit there can be a size off from your dog's actual body.
- Stand your dog on a flat, level surface rather than a sofa or cushion — a soft surface can throw off the reading.
- Keep the head level or just slightly raised. A lowered head stretches out the back measurement and can leave the garment hanging loose.
- No need to add extra room "just in case" — comfortable ease for movement is already built into every size.
Choosing Your Size
- Chest and back point to different sizes? Go by chest, and add your dog's back length to the order comments.
- Outside the chart, or not sure? Add your dog's measurements to the order comments — we'll adjust the pattern to fit, free of charge.
- Want fully custom measurements? Just note them in the order comments at checkout.
Puppy, Italian Greyhound, or Larger Greyhound?
This chart is built for adult whippets. For Italian Greyhounds, check our separate Italian Greyhound listings — just enter your dog's own measurements there.
